Veterinarians
Dr. Gracey Welsh, DVM
Dr. Gracey Welsh, DVM, is a co-owner of the Lake Placid Animal Hospital and a 2016 graduate of Cornell University. Dr. Welsh is excited to be back home after 3 years in emergency and critical care practice and administration. Her passions include working dogs, nutrition, and the human-animal bond with thorough preventative care. Dr. Welsh is a Fear Free certified practitioner and aims to make visits comfortable for owners and patients alike.
Dr. Welsh shares her life with her 2 daughters and husband, as well as 10 dogs, 10 chickens (all named Queen Elsa), and 1 cat (also named Queen Elsa, thanks to her daughter). In her free time, Dr. Welsh loves spending time outdoors, hunting, skiing, or exploring. In her downtime, she dreams of homesteading.
Dr. Jackie Bentley, DVM

Dr. Raechel Yost, DVM
Dr. Raechel Yost graduated from SUNY Canton in 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science in veterinary technology. She worked as an LVT in NYS for 3 years prior to pursuing further education. Dr. Yost went on to earn her DVM from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2025. She enjoys all aspects of medicine but has a special interest in surgery, rehabilitation and comfort care. Dr. Yost’s current crew consists of her cat Ozzy and dog Sheba. On her off days, Dr. Yost can be found on the lake fishing, in the woods camping, reading a good book or spending time with friends.

Ruth Schmidt, CVPM
Practice Manager
Ruth Schmidt, CVPM- Practice Manager Ruth has been with us since the doors opened in 2010. Ruth is a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager and also a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional. Before coming to LPAH Ruth worked at the Tri Lakes Humane Society. She has an interest in dog training and competes with her dogs in obedience and agility. She shares her home with her husband, son, and daughter, 3 dogs, 2 cats and 2 birds.
Roslyn McClatchie
LVT
Roslyn McClatchie- LVT Ros joined our staff in 2017. She has worked in many different roles in the hospital during her time here. Ros graduated from tech school in 2023 and shares her home with her fiancé, 2 dogs, and a cat.
